United Arab Emirates Income Tax Calculator 2026

The honest answer for the UAE is short: salary tax is zero, at every income level. There is no personal income tax at federal level or in any Emirate. This page is still useful for three things: confirming that zero before you accept an offer, comparing a UAE salary against taxed countries on equal terms, and seeing the two places tax does exist, business income and pension contributions for nationals.

The system

How income tax works in United Arab Emirates

Because there is no personal income tax, an employee in the UAE has no individual tax registration and no tax return to file on salary. Take-home pay equals gross pay, before any deduction your contract itself sets up, such as a voluntary savings plan. Nothing is withheld by the employer for the government. That position is the same in every Emirate, since no Emirate runs its own income tax on salaries either.

The UAE does have a corporate tax, and it can reach individuals who run a business. A natural person carrying on a business is subject to the 9% corporate tax where business turnover exceeds AED 1,000,000. Wages are kept out of that test: salary, personal investment income and real estate investment income are expressly excluded from the turnover calculation, so employment income is never taxed under it. The other deduction expatriates sometimes ask about is pension. Social contributions through the GPSSA apply to UAE nationals, and to certain GCC nationals, only. Expatriate employees make no employee pension contributions, so none are modelled here.

What this calculator leaves out

  • There is no personal income tax in the UAE at federal or Emirate level, and no individual tax registration or filing obligation for employees. Salary take-home equals gross pay before any voluntary or contractual deductions.
  • UAE corporate tax (9%) can apply to a natural person carrying on a business with turnover above AED 1,000,000, but wages, personal investment income and real estate investment income are expressly excluded from that turnover test; employment salary is never taxed.
  • No employee social contributions for expatriates. Pension contributions (GPSSA) apply to UAE nationals (and certain GCC nationals) only and are not modelled.

FAQ

United Arab Emirates tax — frequently asked questions

Yes. The UAE charges no personal income tax on employment income at federal or Emirate level, and there is no salary band at which tax starts. A gross offer of AED 300,000 is AED 300,000 before deductions you agree to in your own contract.
Possibly. A natural person carrying on a business falls under the 9% corporate tax when business turnover exceeds AED 1,000,000. Salary does not count toward that threshold, since wages, personal investment income and real estate investment income are excluded from the turnover test. Below the threshold, or on pure employment income, there is no tax.
No. Employees have no individual tax registration and no filing obligation in the UAE, because there is no personal income tax to register for. Registration duties exist for businesses under the corporate tax system, which is a separate matter from your salary.
Only if you are a UAE national, or a GCC national covered by the pension scheme. GPSSA pension contributions apply to nationals. Expatriate employees have no employee social contributions at all, which is why this calculator shows a social deduction of zero.
