About Krynto

Krynto is a take-home pay calculator. You enter a gross salary and it works out the income tax, the employee social contributions and the pay that is left, country by country.

What the site does

One salary, worked out under 111 sets of rules

Each country on Krynto has its own calculator page with that country's tax bands, standard allowance and employee contribution rates for the current tax year. The homepage calculator runs one salary through several countries at once, so you can compare take-home pay side by side before a move, a job offer or a contract in another currency.

Every calculation happens in your browser. The salary you type in is not sent to a server and is not stored anywhere. Country pages also carry worked examples at set income levels, printed from the same calculation model, so the numbers on the page and the numbers in the calculator agree.

Who runs it

Researched and maintained by Jacob

Krynto is run by Jacob, who researches the tax rates behind each calculator, keeps the country records up to date and maintains the calculation model. When a government publishes new bands or a new contribution ceiling, the country record is updated and its checked date moves with it.

Corrections are welcome. If a figure on the site looks wrong against an official source, send the source through the contact page and it will be checked against the country record.

Where the figures come from

Official sources first, with a date on every check

Rates are taken from official tax authority publications first, then from PwC Tax Summaries, then KPMG. Each country record names its source and carries the date it was last checked; the current set was checked in October 2026. Currency conversions used in comparisons come from a dated snapshot of reference rates, refreshed monthly, rather than live market prices.

The methodology page sets out the full model: the order the calculation runs in, the standard case every figure assumes, and the simplifications that are known about and stated openly.

Estimates only. Krynto figures are planning estimates for a single employee on standard allowances. They are not tax, legal or financial advice. See the disclaimer for what the calculators leave out.
