Pakistan taxes salaries on a slab schedule that starts gently (the first Rs 600,000 is taxed at 0%) and the UAE does not tax them at all. That makes the shape of this comparison predictable but the size of it worth seeing: at a salary of Rs 30,00,000 Pakistan takes Rs 2,76,000, an effective rate of 9.2%, while at the US$50,000 equivalent of Rs 1,39,25,000 the bill is Rs 38,47,750 and the gap to the UAE is the full amount.

Each row prices the same job in both countries: the gross figures are the same US dollar salary converted into each currency at the reference rates of 28 October 2026 (1 USD = 278.5 PKR and 3.6725 AED), rounded to the nearest 500. The last column converts the United Arab Emirates take-home back into PKR at the same rate and subtracts the Pakistan take-home, so a positive figure means more take-home pay in the country named. Income tax includes any regional tax, levies, credits and rebates in the standard model. It says nothing about what the money buys locally — see the purchasing-power points in the questions below the table where they apply.
Pakistan is modelled on the salaried schedule in force from 1 July 2026 under the Finance Act 2026: 0% on the first Rs 600,000, then 1%, 11%, 20%, 25%, 29% and 32%, reaching 35% above Rs 70,00,000. The employer withholds the full tax from salary payments. Finance Act 2026 cut several middle bands against the year before (the 23% band became 20%, the 30% band became 25%) and abolished the 9% surcharge on salaried income above Rs 10 million. No employee social percentage is modelled, because EOBI and provincial social security are charged mainly on the employer and on the minimum wage rather than as a slice of actual salary. On Rs 60,00,000 the tax is Rs 11,04,000, leaving Rs 48,96,000.
The UAE has no personal income tax at federal or emirate level and no payroll deduction for expatriate employees, so the UAE column is the gross salary at every level. Pension contributions under the GPSSA apply to UAE nationals only and are not modelled. The 9% corporate tax can reach a natural person carrying on a business with turnover above AED 1,000,000, but wages are expressly excluded from that test, so employment income is never taxed.
