A gross salary is not portable: the same number buys a different take-home in every tax system. Enter a salary in one country and this tool finds the gross salary in a second country that leaves exactly the same take-home pay, after income tax and employee social contributions in both.
The salary can be typed in any currency; it is converted into the first country at the snapshot rate, and the equivalent is solved in the second country’s own currency.
a year in United Kingdom leaves the same take-home pay as $75,000 in United States ($61,593 net).
| Breakdown | United States (USD) | United Kingdom (GBP) |
|---|---|---|
| Gross salary | $75,000 | £61,719 |
| Income tax | $7,670 | £12,120 |
| Social contributions | $5,738 | £3,245 |
| Take-home pay | $61,593 | £46,355 |
| Effective rate | 17.9% | 24.9% |
Currency conversion uses the ECB reference rates + open.er-api snapshot snapshot dated 28 October 2026 held in Krynto’s data — a dated snapshot for comparison, not live market rates. Both sides model a single employee with standard allowances. Matching take-home pay is not matching living standards: rent, healthcare and everyday prices differ, and neither is in this calculation. Estimates only — not tax or financial advice.
The tool first works out the take-home pay of the salary you entered, in the first country, with the same engine as the country calculators. It then searches the second country’s gross salaries — narrowing the range sixty times — until it finds the gross whose take-home pay, converted at the snapshot rate, matches yours. Because every deduction in the model rises with pay, there is exactly one such gross for any target.
The result usually surprises in one direction: moving to a heavier-taxed country needs a noticeably bigger gross to stand still, and moving somewhere lighter means the same take-home on a smaller nominal salary. Either way, negotiate on the equivalent figure rather than the headline number.
