Run the same salary through both systems and United Arab Emirates wins by default: it has no income tax on employment income, so the full $100,068 of a $100,000 salary is take-home pay. United Kingdom keeps $72,213 at that level. The gap is $2,197 at a $25,000 salary and $71,672 at $200,000. The table below shows all four levels.

Each row prices the same job in both countries: the gross figures are the same US dollar salary converted into each currency at the reference rates of 28 October 2026 (1 USD = 0.7526 GBP and 3.6725 AED), rounded to the nearest 500. The last column converts the United Arab Emirates take-home back into GBP at the same rate and subtracts the United Kingdom take-home, so a positive figure means more take-home pay in the country named. Income tax includes any regional tax, levies, credits and rebates in the standard model. It says nothing about what the money buys locally — see the purchasing-power points in the questions below the table where they apply.
United Kingdom taxes a salary through 3 bands from 20% to 45%, with the top rate applying from £125,140. The first £12,570 of salary is covered by the standard allowance. Employee contributions are National Insurance at 8% on pay up to £50,270, then 2% above that; at the $100,000 salary level they add up to $4,678. At the $100,000 level the total deduction is $28,106: $23,428 of income tax and $4,678 of contributions, an effective rate of 28.0%. Rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland; Scottish income tax rates and bands differ.
United Arab Emirates is the simple side of this comparison: there is no personal income tax on employment income, and the standard model charges no employee social contributions either, so take-home pay equals gross pay at every level in the table. UAE corporate tax (9%) can apply to a natural person carrying on a business with turnover above AED 1,000,000, but wages, personal investment income and real estate investment income are expressly excluded from that turnover test; employment salary is never taxed.
