Run the same salary through both systems and United Arab Emirates wins by default: it has no income tax on employment income, so the full $100,068 of a $100,000 salary is take-home pay. Canada keeps $71,259 at that level. The gap is $4,515 at a $25,000 salary and $70,022 at $200,000. The table below shows all four levels.

Each row prices the same job in both countries: the gross figures are the same US dollar salary converted into each currency at the reference rates of 28 October 2026 (1 USD = 1.4047 CAD and 3.6725 AED), rounded to the nearest 500. The last column converts the United Arab Emirates take-home back into CAD at the same rate and subtracts the Canada take-home, so a positive figure means more take-home pay in the country named. Income tax includes any regional tax, levies, credits and rebates in the standard model. It says nothing about what the money buys locally — see the purchasing-power points in the questions below the table where they apply.
Canada taxes a salary through 5 bands from 14% to 33%, with the top rate applying from $258,482. A regional layer, Ontario, sits on top of the national bands. The first $16,452 of salary is covered by the standard allowance. Employee contributions are Canada Pension Plan at 5.95% on pay up to $74,600, CPP2 (second additional CPP) at 4% on pay up to $85,000 and Employment Insurance at 1.63% on pay up to $68,900; at the $100,000 salary level they add up to $4,107. At the $100,000 level the total deduction is $28,762: $24,655 of income tax and $4,107 of contributions, an effective rate of 28.8%. Federal basic personal amount phases down from $16,452 to $14,829 between $181,440 and $258,482 of income; the phase-down is not modelled.
United Arab Emirates is the simple side of this comparison: there is no personal income tax on employment income, and the standard model charges no employee social contributions either, so take-home pay equals gross pay at every level in the table. UAE corporate tax (9%) can apply to a natural person carrying on a business with turnover above AED 1,000,000, but wages, personal investment income and real estate investment income are expressly excluded from that turnover test; employment salary is never taxed.
