Registered nurse salary in India after tax

PayScale's average base salary for a staff nurse in India is ₹307,703 a year — a salary-survey figure from a small sample, and base salary only, before bonuses and overtime. At this level there is no income tax to pay under the new regime, so the only deduction is the EPF contribution of ₹21,600 and take-home pay is ₹286,103 a year.

Registered Nurse take-home pay by country

Each row uses that country's own sourced salary for this profession — the gross pay is not held constant, because the point of the table is what the job actually pays and keeps in each place. US dollar figures use the Krynto currency snapshot of 28 October 2026 (ECB reference rates + open.er-api snapshot), and the ranking is by take-home pay in US dollars.

FAQ

Registered Nurse pay in India — questions

After the ₹75,000 standard deduction, taxable income is about ₹232,703, inside the zero-rate band of the FY 2025–26 new regime, so the income tax bill is zero. The only modelled deduction is the EPF contribution.
EPF is charged at 12% of wages up to the statutory wage ceiling of ₹15,000 a month in the standard model, so the annual contribution is 12% of ₹180,000 — ₹21,600 — even though the salary is higher. Where an employer runs EPF on the full salary, the deduction is larger and take-home pay lower.
Limited. It is PayScale's average base salary from a sample of roughly 250 staff nurses — a salary-survey figure, not an official median. It excludes bonuses and overtime, and pay varies sharply between government hospitals, large private chains and small clinics.
