Secondary school teacher salary in the United Arab Emirates after tax

GulfTalent's salary-survey average for teachers in the UAE is AED 5,500 a month, AED 66,000 a year. There is no personal income tax and no employee contribution for expatriate staff in the standard model, so the full amount is take-home pay. The figure needs its caveats: it comes from a small self-reported sample (61 teachers) under the generic title "Teacher", mixing school levels and curricula, and international-school packages usually add housing on top.

Secondary School Teacher take-home pay by country

Each row uses that country's own sourced salary for this profession — the gross pay is not held constant, because the point of the table is what the job actually pays and keeps in each place. US dollar figures use the Krynto currency snapshot of 28 October 2026 (ECB reference rates + open.er-api snapshot), and the ranking is by take-home pay in US dollars.

Rows marked as survey figures in the salary data (basis: survey average) rest on self-reported samples and read lower than official medians for the same job. Take-home pay is after income tax and employee contributions only; it says nothing about living costs.

FAQ

Secondary School Teacher pay in United Arab Emirates — questions

No. Employment income is not taxed in the UAE, and expatriate teachers have no payroll contribution in the standard model, so gross and take-home pay are both AED 66,000.
Treat it as a floor. It is a salary-survey figure from a small sample of 61 self-reported salaries across all school levels. Secondary teachers at international-curriculum schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi typically earn more, and employer-provided housing is common and not counted in the figure.
About US$17,971 at the pegged rate — low in this table not because of tax, which is zero, but because the surveyed gross salary is modest.
