Enter an annual salary in dong and this calculator applies the new personal income tax law for the 2026 tax year, Law No. 109/2025/QH15. The old seven-band scale is replaced by five bands, and the family circumstance deduction for the taxpayer is VND 15,500,000 a month. Compulsory insurance contributions are deducted on top of the tax.

The new scale taxes monthly taxable income at 5% up to VND 10,000,000, 10% up to VND 30,000,000, 20% up to VND 60,000,000, 30% up to VND 100,000,000 and 35% above that; this calculator annualises those thresholds. Before the bands apply, you deduct VND 15,500,000 a month for yourself and VND 6,200,000 a month for each dependant. This standard calculation assumes no dependants. Non-residents are taxed at a flat 20% on employment income and are not covered here.
Employees pay compulsory insurance of 10.5% of salary: social insurance 8%, health insurance 1.5% and unemployment insurance 1%. Social and health contributions are charged on a salary base capped at 20 times the statutory base salary. That base salary rose to VND 2,530,000 a month on 1 July 2026, giving a monthly cap of VND 50,600,000; the calculator applies that ceiling for the whole year, although the cap was VND 46,800,000 in the first half of 2026, so contributions are marginally understated. Unemployment insurance uses a separate, higher cap based on the regional minimum wage. In law the contributions are deducted before tax; this calculator does not deduct them, so the tax shown is slightly overstated.
