Saint Lucia Income Tax Calculator 2026

Enter a Saint Lucian salary in East Caribbean dollars and this calculator applies the resident scale: a XCD 25,000 personal allowance, then 15% on the first XCD 15,000 of chargeable income, 20% on the next XCD 15,000 and 30% above that. It also deducts the employee National Insurance contribution of 5%, charged on earnings up to XCD 60,000 a year. In law the NIC comes off the tax base before the allowance is applied; it is not deducted here, so the tax shown runs slightly high.

The system

How income tax works in Saint Lucia

The scale is short. After the XCD 25,000 allowance, the 15% band covers XCD 15,000 of chargeable income and the 20% band the next XCD 15,000, so the 30% top rate starts at a gross salary of XCD 55,000. Other deductions exist, for mortgage interest and charitable donations among others, but they are capped at XCD 30,000 a year in total and none of them are modelled here. Older guides showing an EC$18,400 allowance and four bands are describing an outdated scale.

The National Insurance contribution is 5% of insurable earnings up to XCD 5,000 a month, which caps the employee payment at XCD 250 a month, or XCD 3,000 a year. Legally that contribution is deducted from income before the personal allowance is applied, so real chargeable income is slightly lower than the figure used here. The difference is small, but it means the calculator result is a slight upper bound.

What this calculator leaves out

  • Chargeable income is taxed at 15% on the first XCD 15,000, 20% on the next XCD 15,000 and 30% above XCD 30,000, after the XCD 25,000 personal allowance (PwC, confirmed by its sample calculation)
  • In law chargeable income is gross income minus the employee NIC and then the personal allowance; following the standard Krynto model the NIC is not deducted from the tax base, so the income tax shown is slightly overstated
  • Employee NIC is 5% of insurable earnings up to XCD 5,000 a month, a maximum contribution of XCD 250 a month
  • Other concessional deductions (mortgage interest, charitable donations, etc.) are capped at XCD 30,000 a year in aggregate, excluding the personal allowance and medical expenses; none are modelled

FAQ

Saint Lucia tax — frequently asked questions

After the XCD 25,000 allowance, chargeable income is XCD 75,000. The tax is 15% of XCD 15,000 (XCD 2,250), plus 20% of XCD 15,000 (XCD 3,000), plus 30% of the remaining XCD 45,000 (XCD 13,500), a total of XCD 18,750. NIC takes XCD 3,000, its capped maximum, leaving take-home pay of about XCD 78,250.
Once chargeable income passes XCD 30,000, which means a gross salary above XCD 55,000 after the XCD 25,000 allowance. Only the income above that point is charged at 30%.
The employee contribution is 5% of insurable earnings up to XCD 5,000 a month. On a salary above that level the contribution stops rising and stays at XCD 250 a month, XCD 3,000 over a full year.
The personal allowance is XCD 25,000, the figure used in the PwC sample calculation. XCD 30,000 is a different number: it is the cap on the total of other deductions, such as mortgage interest and donations, that can be claimed in a year. The two are easy to mix up, and using 30,000 as the allowance understates the tax.
