Georgia Income Tax Calculator 2026

Enter a Georgian salary in lari and this calculator applies the flat 20% income tax for 2026. Georgia has no personal allowance on salary and no employee social security contributions, so the main extra deduction is the 2% accumulative pension contribution for scheme members.

The system

How income tax works in Georgia

Georgia taxes employment income at a single flat rate of 20%, withheld from salary each month. There is no tax-free allowance and no band structure, so the tax is simply one fifth of gross pay in the standard case. PwC's summary puts it plainly: there are no social security contributions in Georgia, which is why the payslip has so few lines compared with most European countries.

The one regular deduction beyond tax is the accumulative pension. Members pay 2% of salary, the employer adds 2%, and the state adds 2% or 1% depending on income. Membership is mandatory for employees who were under 40 when the scheme launched in 2019, with opt-out rules for that cohort; the self-employed are outside it. In law, the pension contribution sits outside the income tax base. This calculator taxes gross pay, so the income tax shown is a slight upper bound for scheme members.

What this calculator leaves out

  • Flat 20% income tax on salary, withheld monthly; there is no personal allowance for employment income and no other employee social security contributions.
  • Employees in the accumulative pension scheme pay 2% of salary (employer adds 2% and the state adds 2% or 1% depending on income). Participation is mandatory for employees who were under 40 when the scheme launched in 2019, with opt-out rules for that cohort; self-employed are outside it. In law the pension contribution is excluded from the income tax base; the engine taxes gross pay, so tax is a slight upper bound.
  • Small-business and micro-business regimes (0%/1% on turnover) apply to the self-employed, not to employees, and are not modelled.

FAQ

Georgia tax — frequently asked questions

No. There is no personal allowance for employment income, so the flat 20% tax applies to the full gross salary from the first lari. The result is a very simple payslip: 20% income tax, plus the pension contribution if you are a scheme member.
It is the employee share of the accumulative pension scheme: 2% of salary from you, 2% from your employer, and a state top-up of 2% or 1% depending on income. It is mandatory for employees who were under 40 when the scheme started in 2019. If you are not a member, your only deduction is the 20% income tax.
For pension scheme members, the 2% contribution is excluded from the income tax base in Georgian law, so tax is charged on 98% of salary rather than the full amount. This calculator applies the 20% to gross pay, which makes the tax it shows a slight upper bound for members.
No. Georgia runs separate small-business and micro-business regimes for the self-employed, charging 0% or 1% on turnover rather than 20% on salary. Those regimes have their own conditions and are not modelled here. This calculator covers employees only.
