Each row prices the same job in both countries: the gross figures are the same US dollar salary converted into each currency at the reference rates of 28 October 2026 (1 USD = 0.8982 EUR and 278.5 PKR), rounded to the nearest 500. The last column converts the Pakistan take-home back into EUR at the same rate and subtracts the France take-home, so a positive figure means more take-home pay in the country named. Income tax includes any regional tax, levies, credits and rebates in the standard model. It says nothing about what the money buys locally — see the purchasing-power points in the questions below the table where they apply.

What stands out

The two systems, in short

France

France taxes a salary through 5 bands from 0% to 45%, with the top rate applying from €181,917. An employment-income deduction of 10% comes off the salary before the bands, capped at €14,171. Employee contributions are Employee social contributions (combined) at 21%; at the $100,000 salary level they add up to $21,042. At the $100,000 level the total deduction is $40,419: $19,377 of income tax and $21,042 of contributions, an effective rate of 40.3%. The 10% professional-expense deduction is applied to gross salary, capped at EUR 14,171; the statutory minimum deduction is not modelled. In reality the deduction is taken on salary net of social contributions, and 6.8 points of CSG are deductible from taxable income; neither refinement is modelled.

Pakistan

Pakistan taxes a salary through 8 bands from 0% to 35%, with the top rate applying from Rs7,000,000. The model shows no separate employee social contributions for Pakistan, so the whole deduction sits in the tax line. At the $100,000 level the total deduction is $31,316, all of it income tax, an effective rate of 31.3%.
