Each row prices the same job in both countries: the gross figures are the same US dollar salary converted into each currency at the reference rates of 28 October 2026 (1 USD = 278.5 PKR and 0.8306 CHF), rounded to the nearest 500. The last column converts the Switzerland take-home back into PKR at the same rate and subtracts the Pakistan take-home, so a positive figure means more take-home pay in the country named. Income tax includes any regional tax, levies, credits and rebates in the standard model. It says nothing about what the money buys locally — see the purchasing-power points in the questions below the table where they apply.

What stands out

The two systems, in short

Pakistan

Pakistan taxes a salary through 8 bands from 0% to 35%, with the top rate applying from Rs7,000,000. The model shows no separate employee social contributions for Pakistan, so the whole deduction sits in the tax line. At the $100,000 level the total deduction is $31,316, all of it income tax, an effective rate of 31.3%.

Switzerland

Switzerland taxes a salary through 10 bands from 0.77% to 13.2%, with the top rate applying from CHF793,900. A regional layer, Zurich cantonal & municipal tax, sits on top of the national bands. The first CHF15,200 of salary is covered by the standard allowance. Employee contributions are AHV/IV/EO old-age & disability (employee) at 5.3% and ALV unemployment insurance (employee) at 1.1% on pay up to CHF148,200; at the $100,000 salary level they add up to $6,395. At the $100,000 level the total deduction is $20,231: $13,836 of income tax and $6,395 of contributions, an effective rate of 20.2%. Occupational pension (pillar 2 / BVG) employee contributions vary by pension fund and age and are excluded; non-occupational accident insurance (employee-paid, roughly 1–4% up to CHF 148,200) is also excluded. Health insurance premiums are paid privately, outside payroll.
